It's still fairly early in the semester here, so I've been locked up in grading papers, teaching, etc. I just see the reliance on so-called Excellence debilitating. Its followers have sucked the life out of any criticism. So, rather than write this up for academic journals, why not have the discussion in an online environment? To me, it's a perfect way to use blogs. I also really, really enjoy the non-North American perspective. I taught in Vienna for a week this past spring and it was really eye-opening. I hope to do more in the future. [Which, by the way, is another easy criticism of the Excellence study.
