I believe that management (not just management of comms/PR activities) is vital and ensure this is considered in the courses I am teaching. However I have noticed that management textbooks don't recognise strategic aspects of comms/PR. They normally contain chapters on strategic issues and models etc relating to marketing and HR, but when areas such as reputation, culture, stakeholder management, crises and so on are covered there is no acknowledgement of public relations and it's role.

So great to educate our students, but if we could champion PR in management more it would address the counter issue.
